Connecticut's Premier
Fine Art Auction House
Client: This Fine Art Auction House specializes in American and European 19th and early 20th century
paintings. The firm is aggressively positioned to
compete with New York auction houses in the under
$250,000 art market.
Background: This client came to us via
recommendation from a well-known New York Auction Firm. They were looking for a facility to manage their entire print production process from
photography, database management, and layout
through to the binding and mailing of their catalog.
Solution: They chose Cosmos based on our reputation as the leader in meeting the promotional needs of the fine arts community. Digital photography was proposed as a time and cost saving solution. A remote digital photography
studio was set-up with on-site proofing, where color
corrections, and approval were completed
simultaneously. We shot over 80 works of art
per day, over a 3-day period, for a total of 240+
shots. Once the photography and prepress
processes were complete, the catalog was printed
and perfect bound. While all of this was going on,
mailing lists were perfected and delivered, labels
were designed and output, and finally, the book
was priority shipped to over 2000 potential clients
right on time.
The beauty of digital photography is that the images can be reused for additional
promotional
material, viewing via the web, or output either as
posters or smaller prints and postcards.
